Inc. Magazine is out with a new feature on how padel has become the sport of choice for entrepreneurs across the country, and Padel United Sports Club in Cresskill is at the heart of the story.
Writer Ali Donaldson profiles Jon Krieger, the co-founder of Padel United and former co-founder of Bluestone Lane, the Australian-inspired coffee chain. Krieger opened the club in January 2025 after relocating his family from Manhattan to the area during the pandemic. He raised roughly $3 million from high-net-worth individuals and local community members to build the $4 million facility before he had ever even stepped on a padel court. He was that convinced by the data alone.
It paid off quickly. Within the first year, the club generated $3.5 million in revenue, became profitable, and continues to grow 30 percent month over month.
The appeal goes well beyond the sport itself. Padel United now counts 680 members, 70 percent of whom come in four or five days a week and spend an average of 3.5 hours at the club. The facility features six indoor courts, a sauna, a steam room, hot and cold plunge pools, a 40-foot mineral pool, a cafe, and communal work areas. There are junior clinics after school, family memberships, and even members who come strictly for the wellness amenities and never pick up a racket.
For Krieger, the sport itself has become a full-on obsession. He now plays three hours a day, five or six days a week, and has not touched a tennis racket in over a year and a half, despite having played the sport for three decades.
If you have not made it in yet, it might be time.
